Welcome to the Touchbase Care Newsroom, your hub for the latest updates, upcoming events, inspiring stories, and videos from Touchbase Care Cinema.
Here, we share everything happening across our inclusive community, from creative projects and new initiatives to helpful resources and real stories of impact.
Whether you’re a member, supporter, or simply curious about what we do, there’s always something meaningful to discover.
There are not many places Like Touchbase Care, where members of the community have the support and resources to make short films, expressing their own unique perspectives and creativity.
Films made by Touchbase members have been shown at local cinemas, in film festivals, and even on a giant outdoors cinema screen in Folkestone Harbour.

As you can see, making films gives members the opportunity to be creative, grow in confidence and connect with others
Making films helps individuals learn about being social in safe and supported environment, it helps people with disabilities to share their voices and perspectives, and it’s an opportunity for learning new skills.
If you have not yet taken some time to watch our members’ work, why not take a look now
We’re grateful for the support of The National Lottery Community Fund for this project, with additional digital access sessions supported by The Access Foundation

On 28 March, @Touchbasecare staff and volunteers will be walking from #Folkestone to #Kingsdown to raise vital funds for our charity. The challenge reflects the varied, hands-on work our team does every day, from planning and engagement to practical support, and the strong sense of community at the heart. We’re incredibly grateful for the support received so far.

Huge Success for Touchbase Care at the Folkestone Tractor Run

Living Advent Doors for Folkestone Harbour’s Festive Celebration
Folkestone’s Living Advent Calendar will be back for 2026, but this year came with a festive shake-up. Instead of 24 days of nightly surprises, the creative team led by Sadie Hurley and Sue Blakesley of Jim Jam Arts, packed all the magic into a one-day extravaganza on 7 December at Folkestone Harbour’s Festive Marketplace. With @Folkelife also joining the seasonal fun, the Harbour was buzzing with performances, creativity, and plenty of unexpected moments.
Among the highlights were 12 beautifully designed Advent doors created by Touchbase Care members. Each door had its own distinct character on the outside and, when opened, revealed an artwork inspired by themes such as New Ideas, Surprise, and Community.
Visitors were invited to wander the Harbour, spot the doors, open them up, and match each artwork to written information about the Touchbase artist who created it. The experience became a festive game of discovery, part hide-and-seek, part art gallery, and entirely joyful.
The installation brought colour, curiosity, and a touch of Touchbase magic to the Harbour’s celebrations, a true celebration of creativity and community spirit.
Touchbase Cinema Shines – Folkestone Documentary Filmmaking Challenge
We’re thrilled to share that Touchbase Cinema was shortlisted for this year’s Folkestone Documentary Filmmaking Challenge, an exciting event that invites filmmakers to create a short documentary in just a few days.
Our members rose to the challenge with enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork, producing a heartfelt short film that captured our community’s spirit and perspective. Although we didn’t take home the top prize, being shortlisted among so many talented filmmakers was a fantastic achievement in itself.
The filmmaking process was a highlight for everyone involved, from brainstorming ideas and filming on location to editing and seeing the final piece come together. Members said they loved being part of something that celebrated collaboration, storytelling, and self-expression through film.
We’re so proud of what the team created and the confidence, skills, and friendships that grew from the experience.

Celebrating Our Members’ Inktober Creations!
October was a month full of imagination, ink, and inspiration at Touchbase Care! This year, our talented members took part in Inktober, the global art challenge that encourages people to create one ink drawing every day throughout October.
From bold lines and intricate patterns to expressive portraits and playful doodles, each piece told its own story. It was wonderful to see how our members embraced the challenge, experimenting with new techniques, sharing ideas, and supporting one another along the way.
Art has always been a powerful form of expression within our community, and Inktober reminded us how creativity can connect, heal, and empower. Whether participants completed one drawing or thirty-one, every contribution added something special to our shared creative space.
You can see more of the incredible #Inktober artwork on our Instagram @touchbasecare, where we’ve been proudly showcasing members’ creations.
Walking & Wheeling Together: A Day of Community, Joy, and Inclusion
On Friday, Touchbase members, staff, volunteers, and friends came together for our very first Sponsored Walk & Wheel, and what a day it was!
The walk took us from Folkestone to Hythe and back, with members joining in on foot and in wheelchairs, supported every step of the way by our wider community. The energy, laughter, and encouragement along the route perfectly reflected what Touchbase is all about, inclusion, confidence, and thriving together.
As the Folkestone Dispatch recently highlighted in a recent article (About – Folkestone Dispatch), the work we do has a massive impact on individuals and the community as a whole. This walk was a chance to bring that impact to life in a visible and joyful way, while also raising vital funds to continue our work.
We were especially delighted to be joined by Match Estates Folkestone | Estate & Letting Agents, who not only sponsored the event but also took part alongside our members. Their support and presence truly helped make the day special.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part, everyone who donated, and everyone who cheered us on. Together, you’ve shown what it means to FLOURISH, to thrive, not just survive.
This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where our community spirit takes us next.
